Since they first hit the scrapbooking scene several years ago, I have loved the versatility of eyelets. What I didn’t love was the noise and banging on my table. When I moved my scrapbooking to a separate room using a table with a glass top over it, I stopped using eyelets so much. I didn’t dare bang on the glass and crack it. If I wanted to use an eyelet or two, I had to take the scrapbooking page downstairs and use my kitchen table. So, I seemed to banish the eyelets further and further to the back of my supply cabinet.
This weekend I was shopping at Tuesday Morning, an overstock store, and found a Silent Setter by Provo Craft for half off the retail price. My husband gave me that “not another scrapbooking purchase” look, and I gave him the “oh but I NEED this” look. The Silent Setter made it into my shopping basket, and eyelets are making it back onto my scrapbooking pages.
Eyelets can be used on your scrapbooking pages in so many ways. They can be used to tag down vellum on your page instead of using adhesive. I use them on tags as the top hole to tie ribbon through. Obviously they can be used to loop ribbon, string or wire through a page. I love using them as the center of flowers and as simple accent elements on my pages.
Eyelets just don’t come in round shapes anymore either. Scrapbooking eyelets can be found in a variety shapes, colors and sizes now. You can find them in different themes as well. I have some fun Halloween eyelets in the shape of ghosts, pumpkins and black cats. Eyelets are amazingly versatile.
I’m already putting my new Silent Setter to work on my latest scrapbooking album. Now I just need to inventory my eyelet supply and get ready to stock up on more of the current color and theme choices.
